What is the responsibility of a designer? It’s not just to make things look nice. It's rather to respond to the world and using design to clarify, simplify and organise the complexity of our surroundings.
Three young designers. Three months in a region that is totally unknown to them, a region torn by war and conflict: Former Yugoslavia. Using design as a way to look at the world, to simply observe, respond and react. Using design as a way of taking responsibility in that world.
The collective isme go on tour. They help communities reclaim their walls by painting democratic murals; they intervene in a rubbish-filled neighborhood by placing 100 throw-away-garbage-bins; they show a community the beauty of the omni-present benches and their social potential; they change their perspectives and change their minds about the conflict, the countries, and each other almost daily and keep track of everything.
The tour is reported on(?) in twelve thematical parts, randomly ordered and bound to become one book on a journey through neighborhoods, countries, perspectives, friendships, and design.
