The members of the Dutch broadcasting organisation VPRO are educated, creative, and assertive people that are not afraid to voice their opinion. 'Their' VRPO experiences this daily through all the mail, letters, posts and calls they receive. This annual report is an ode to them. Next to the VPRO-gids (once a status symbol) now a coffee table book that they can display in their living room throughout the year and proudly show: I’m part of this community.
Their emails and hand-written letters to the broadcasters, complaining about the perspective of a certain documentary, complimenting the choice of a particular avant-garde film, angrily cancelling their membership over a political disagreement - all these voices were published alongside and reacting to the dry numbers and graphs of the past broadcasting year.
The design reflects those vocal, committed, opinionated voices. And the golden back and binding makes it an ode to the this voice of a community.
